Aurora Borealis Tonight Southern California

Aurora Borealis Expected to Be Visible in Southern California Tonight and Tomorrow Night

Location and Visibility

The aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, are usually only seen in the Polar Regions close to the north and south poles of the Earth. However, a geomagnetic storm is expected to bring the aurora borealis as far south as California tonight and tomorrow night. Low clouds may obstruct the view, but heading north or east will improve chances of a clear view.

Predictions

The aurora borealis is predicted to be visible as far south as Georgia, with the best viewing expected in northern and eastern California. The aurora is expected to be visible to the naked eye, but binoculars or a telescope will enhance the view.

Previous Sightings

This is not the first time the aurora borealis has been visible in Southern California. In 2020, a similar geomagnetic storm brought the aurora borealis as far south as Texas. However, this is a rare event, and it is not known when the aurora borealis will be visible again in Southern California.
